PVC Boat Repair

PVC boats can withstand a great deal of adventure. They are not easy to break. However, they are not invincible and rips and tears will happen. When they do, you have to be prepared to be able to have it repaired. Waiting to have your boat repaired could actually lead to contamination inside the boat through the tear. Improper repair could lead to the tear becoming worse and eventually become unfixable altogether. That is why it is so important to have someone that you can trust to perform this task.

Thankfully, we at Sealed Air Repairs Inc. understand this and we have ample training to perform a boat repair properly. The first thing that we do is measure the size of the tear. If the tear exceeds a certain size, it will need an inside patch as well as an inside patch to cover the tear. Once we have done this, we can then begin to prep the area. We section off the area with masking tape. After this, we cure the glue that is to be used on the tear. A layer of the bonding agent goes on first then sits for thirty seconds. Once these first thirty seconds have passed, another thin layer is applied. When this is done, the patch itself is put into place. A tool is also used to push out the patch properly. The patch must lay flat against the boat or the air bubbles will cause issues down the road.

After this entire process is completed, the glued-on patch is then left to dry for six hours before any pressure can be applied. Once this time has passed, pressure can then be applied. After forty-eight hours, the bonding agent has fully cured. After seven days, it will have reached maximum bonding.
