Are you aware of what drop stitch construction is? This is what allows an inflatable SUP to maintain its shape when it gets inflated to high pressure. It makes sure your SUP doesn’t bulge out in the middle, like an air mattress that gets over-inflated. At Sealed Air Repairs, Inc. we are experts in all things inflatable paddle board repair. Let us assist you when it comes to drop stitch fabric.
It Has Been Around For A While
When it comes to drop stitch technology, it has been around for quite some time. Since the 1950’s to be exact. It was used in the aeronautical industry to make inflatable airplane wings. However, eventually, the military abandoned the inflatable planet project because nobody wanted to fly an aircraft that could be brought down with a bow and arrow. Eventually, SUP manufacturers took advantage of this technology and used it to distribute tension across the entire surfaces.
What Is Drop Stitch Fabric
Using tens of thousands of tough polyester threads, drop stitch technology helps us build inflatables with flat surfaces that can be inflated to rock-hard rigidity. The end result is a hard-shell performance along with the easy transportation and storage of an inflatable.
The process starts by joining two pieces of polyester woven support fabric with thousands of fine polyester thread lengths. This base material is made in strips from five to ten feet in width. Up to 400 needle heads may be used in the setup. Each needle sews a continuous, evenly spaced thread, back and forth between the two pieces of woven fabric, locking them together into an incredibly strong unit. These drop-stitch sewing machines are marvels of complexity. When a change is made in the spacing distance between the two pieces of woven fabric, it can take over 20 days to remove and replace the required needles.
We Are The Best In The Business
The founder of Sealed Air Repairs, Mark Anastasia, has been manufacturing commercial inflatable products for over 25 years. He spent 16 of those years living full time in various cities in China working inside Chinese inflatable manufacturing facilities. He has the track record and experience of building more than 30,000 commercial inflatable products over these years.
In 2013, Anastasia co-founded FunAir with Eric Goldreyer and helped build that brand into a global powerhouse of the Sealed Air Inflatable Yacht Toys industry.
In 2016, he retained his ownership of FunAir, but stepped out of day to day operation and management to create Sealed Air Repairs to service the demand from the marketplace for sealed air repair services. The timing was right, and Sealed Air Repairs is growing very quickly into the repair industry leader for sealed air products.
